Neteyam's existence bridges two worlds; conceived via Jake Sully's human-Na'vi hybrid form yet born naturally to Neytiri, he represents a new generation of Na'vi. Sixteen years after the RDA was first repelled from Pandora, Neteyam lived as a member of the Omatikaya clan under his father's leadership. His family life included his brother Lo'ak, sister Tuktirey (Tuk), adopted sister Kiri, and their playmate Spider. When the Resources Development Administration returned with recombinant soldiers like Colonel Miles Quaritch, Neteyam faced immediate danger. He was captured alongside his siblings during a RDA raid but was freed by Jake and Neytiri. The threat from Quaritch, who sought to locate the Omatikaya headquarters using the knowledge of Spider, forced Neteyam's family to leave their home behind.

In Their Own Story

Neteyam journeyed with his family to Pandora's eastern sea, where they were granted asylum by the aquatic Metkayina clan. While Lo'ak bonded with the Tulkun Payakan and faced entrapment by Aonung, Neteyam remained a steadfast presence. The conflict escalated when Quaritch tracked Norm Spellman and Max Patel to the archipelago, burning Na'vi dwellings and hunting Tulkun to draw out Jake Sully. During a skirmish where Lo'ak, Tsireya, Spider, and others were caught by Quaritch's team after helping Payakan escape, Neteyam intervened. He rescued Lo'ak, Tsireya, and Spider from the RDA forces. However, during this critical escape attempt, Neteyam was fatally shot. His death enraged Jake and Neytiri, driving them to attack Quaritch's crew to rescue Kiri and Tuk.
